Meditation is becoming a daily part of the lives of many people. Westerners have finally cottoned on to the benefits that the eastern practices of meditation and yoga have in store. Not only does meditation increase your inner sense of peace but it also helps deal with niggling health issues as well. Now, if you are suffering from a dreadful disease that is completely incurable, don t expect miracles.
However, you can increase your personal happiness and your ability to deal with things like diseases or problems. Meditation is not a cure; it is a helping hand that can get you through the storm.
Meditation is also a good way to recharge your batteries, deal with stress or find answers to problems or situations. It clears your mind, hones your focus and relaxes like nothing on earth. However, meditation is not always comfortable. So how do you get around that little snag?
Making Life More Comfortable
When you picture a veteran meditation master you probably picture a person sitting on a hard surface in a strict lotus position, hands upturned on knees and chanting a mantra. This is all good and well, but it is not always comfortable. What you need to look into is a meditation bench cushion. Meditation benches are beautiful little items that offer you a seat off the floor. However, you may also want a meditation bench cushion to soften the gorgeous hardwoods they are made from.
Meditation bench cushions and the benches are a more comfortable option for poses like the lotus that are uncomfortable. If you think that you cannot properly meditate using a meditation bench cushion, think again. How well will you be able to meditate when in pain or once your legs fall asleep on you? Not very well is the answer.
A Meditation bench cushion take nothing away from your meditation. On the contrary, it enhances your experience which can only enhance the results in turn. Older people or those with medical conditions, such as arthritis, may not find it comfortable to meditate on a bare floor. Their joints and limbs may protest under the pose and this can force them to give up meditation.
However, they can keep on practicing with the help of meditation bench cushions. The idea of meditation is that you reflect inwards and that you train your mind and body connection to be strong and work well. It does not matter if you are going to torture yourself on the floor. So rather comfortably in order to do it. All that matters is that you actually do it and feel the results.

If an individual is considering the practice of meditation, there are a number of options available. Some of those options include the practice of meditation that simply concentrates on the breath and helps the individual to become centered and release the stresses of life.
In addition, there are those meditation practices that are linked to religions. Specifically, there is the Tibetan Buddhist meditation method and Buddhist meditation instruction.
Therefore, if considering the Buddhist meditation instruction method it is important to know what this method entails and how to learn the Buddhist meditation instruction method.
What Is The Buddhist Meditation Instruction Method?
Buddhist meditation instruction calls for the individual to set aside at least 15 minutes in the day and devote this time towards concentrating on their breathing. Specifically, the individual can sit on a large meditation cushion placed upon the floor or can be seated in an easy chair. In addition, the individual can be seated with their legs crossed in the lotus position or with their feet flat on the floor.
Also, it is important, in order to allow for proper breathing, that the back be as straight as possible. Furthermore, the arms should be in front of the individual and slightly bent so that the individual can place the back of the right hand on the palm of the left-hand and allow for the slight touching of the thumbs. Finally, the lips should be together and tip of the tongue should touch the roof of the mouth in front of the upper row of teeth.
Once the correct position has been established, then the individual begins to concentrate on the breath entering into their lungs and that same breath being exhaled through the nose. Beginners may find this a difficult process at first because many thoughts will bombard the individual. When this happens simply acknowledge those thoughts and again focus in on one s breathing.
The Purpose Of The Buddhist Meditation Instruction Method
There are many reasons why an individual may want to practice Buddhist meditation instruction. First and foremost, are the personal benefits that are derived through the practice of Buddhist meditation instruction methods. Specifically, some of those benefits to the individual include the attaining peace, happiness and acquiring wisdom. In addition, the individual will begin to understand themselves more and become more cognizant of their spirituality and connection to the universe including communion with their higher power.
In addition, another benefit that can be achieved by practicing Buddhist meditation instruction is that the individual becomes more aware of the fact that they are part of a global network. This global network not only includes their interpersonal relationships with each other, but their connection to the environment, other life forms, etc.
